New hire reporting helps protect Pennsylvania’s children and families from poverty. When children get the child support they deserve, they can lead more fulfilling lives, with more opportunities to excel. New hire reporting aids in: locating the noncustodial parent who owes child support; establishing an order for child support; and garnishing the noncustodial parent’s wages, to provide the child support payment. By reporting their new hires timely (within 20 days of the hire [or re-hire date]), employers directly contribute to this process of supporting children and families.
